To convert images from HEIC to JPEG in Windows 10, you need to install a free application called CopyTrans HEIC for Windows.
After installing the application, go to any HEIC image in your system. CopyTrans HEIC for Windows does not have a graphical interface, it is only added to the context menu. Right-click the HEIC image you want to convert, and on the shortcut menu, select “Convert JPEG with CopyTrans” option in the context menu. The image will be converted and saved in same place as the original image. Original image will, of course, remain intact.
If you want to convert several HEIC images to JPEG, just select them all and right-click on any of them. The conversion parameter will still be present in the context menu.
As with any file conversion application, quality is key here, and we are talking about converting between a format that should provide superior quality with a smaller file size into a format that reduces quality to maintain a smaller file size.
By comparing the original HEIC image and the converted JPEG image, the quality appears to have been preserved. Perhaps a more experienced eye can tell the difference, but I failed.
